Our Mission Statement

At Adora-Bull Terrier Rescue and Rehabilitation, our mission is to provide a safe haven for Bull Terriers who have been neglected, abandoned, or are in need of urgent veterinary care. We are committed to rescuing these beautiful dogs and rehoming them to loving and experienced homes where they can thrive.

In our efforts to save as many Bull Terriers as possible, we also work to network dogs in kill shelters through social media, even if they are not in our care. This approach allows us to extend our reach beyond our immediate area, increasing our impact and helping more dogs find their forever homes.

We understand that circumstances can change, and sometimes Bull Terrier owners need to rehome their dogs. At Adora-Bull, we are here to assist in a safe and responsible way. Our team works with owners to ensure their dogs are rehomed to the best possible environment, where they will receive the care and attention they need.

One of our main goals at Adora-Bull is to increase public awareness of the unique needs of Bull Terriers. We believe that through education, we can help end the euthanasia of adoptable dogs of this breed. We provide relevant information and training to potential adopters, to ensure that every Bull Terrier that is adopted is placed in a suitable home where they can thrive.

We are committed to fighting against the breeding and selling of dogs for profit. In a world where so many animals are in need, and euthanasia is a harsh reality, the breeding of unwanted litters is unacceptable. At Adora-Bull, we are dedicated to raising awareness of this issue and working to ensure that every dog is given the best chance at a happy and healthy life.

At Adora-Bull Terrier Rescue and Rehabilitation, we rely solely on the generosity and goodwill of our volunteers and members of the public. Our supporters are as passionate about the Bull Terrier breed as we are, and they play a vital role in helping us rescue and rehome these beautiful dogs. With their help, we can continue to fight for the rights of Bull Terriers and give them the second chance at life they all deserve.

When you’ve looked in the eyes of a dumped, abandoned or abused animal and all that you have wanted to do is erase all their hurt and pain, while at the same time wanting to hurt the human responsible for causing it, you might be an animal rescuer.

Rescue and Rehabilitation

Adora-Bull Terrier Rescue and Rehabilitation, a non-profit organisation located in Gauteng, South Africa, has taken on the mission of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming Bull Terrier dogs throughout the country.
This dedicated organisation was founded by Dania Skone, a qualified behaviourist, who has worked tirelessly to improve the welfare of these misunderstood and often neglected dogs. Ms Skone’s passion for animal welfare was ignited during her time working for the SPCA in Vereeniging. It was during this time that she realised the desperate situation faced by South African Bull Terriers. Due to common misconceptions surrounding their breed, Bull Terriers were often abandoned or neglected, and many were euthanised.
It was this realisation that prompted Ms Skone to take action and create Adora-Bull Terrier Rescue and Rehabilitation. In recognition of her work in the field of Bull Terrier rehabilitation, Ms Skone was invited by the Northern Free State Bull Terrier Club to head up their rescue efforts. This eventually led to the creation of Adora-Bull Terrier Rescue and Rehabilitation in 2012.
Since then, the organisation has grown and evolved, with 2015 seeing the necessity for it to become a separate entity, thus becoming a stand-alone NPO. Ms Skone’s qualifications and expertise are a valuable asset to the organisation. Her diploma in Advanced Canine Behaviour from the Ethology Academy, as well as her associate membership with ABC of SA (Animal Behaviour Consultants of South Africa), has enabled her to provide the best possible care and support to the Bull Terriers in need.
In conclusion, Adora-Bull Terrier Rescue and Rehabilitation is an inspiring organisation that is dedicated to making
a real difference in the lives of Bull Terriers.
Their efforts are crucial in combating the misconceptions and neglect faced by this wonderful breed, and their hard work is a testament to the power of compassion and dedication in animal welfare.

Dania and The Adora-Bull Kennels Team

Rescue is defined as meaning to free from confinement, danger, or evil, save, and deliver, including:

  • To take (an abused, neglected or any animal in harm’s way) from custody;
  • To recover (an abused, neglected or any animal in harm’s way), and
  • To deliver (an abused, neglected or any animal in harm’s way).

As an animal rescuer, you know what it’s like to look into the eyes of a dumped, abandoned, or abused animal and feel an overwhelming sense of sadness and anger. You want to erase all of their hurt and pain, to make them feel loved and safe again. At the same time, you can’t help but feel furious towards the human responsible for causing their suffering.

Animal rescuers are a unique breed of people who feel a deep sense of responsibility towards all living creatures. They are driven by their compassion and empathy for animals and their desire to make a difference in their lives. Every day, they face the heart-breaking reality of animal cruelty and neglect, but they never give up hope.

Animal rescuers are the unsung heroes of our society, dedicating their time, energy, and resources to help animals in need. They work tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals who have been abandoned, abused, or neglected. Their efforts provide a lifeline for animals who have nowhere else to turn.

Despite the challenges they face, animal rescuers never lose sight of their mission. They are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of animals, one rescue at a time. Their work is a testament to the power of compassion and the resilience of the human spirit.

So, if you’ve ever looked into the eyes of a dumped, abandoned, or abused animal and felt a burning desire to make a difference, you might just be an animal rescuer. And for that, we salute you.

THIS IS WHAT WE DO!
